Is activity-based costing always better?
No, and saying so in an assignment is usually rewarded. It gives better cost attribution where overheads are large and diverse, and it costs more to run and maintain. The judgment about when it is worth it is normally what the question is really asking.
This comes up on Managerial Accounting Support, where it is answered in the context of the work itself.
