Most people ask for proofreading and need the copy edit
Proofreading is the final surface pass on a draft whose argument is already where you want it: grammar, punctuation, spelling, consistency, and formatting. If your faculty feedback is about typos and citation slips, this is the whole job and it is the cheaper one.
Copy editing does that and works on the writing itself: sentence structure, register, repetition, transitions, paragraph logic and the academic voice your program expects. If the feedback you get is that the paper is hard to follow, or does not sound academic, or repeats itself, proofreading will not fix any of it.
