What happens if I fail the NCLEX three times?
Nationally, nothing automatic: NCSBN's rules on the interval between attempts and the annual cap apply the same way they did after the first failure. What changes is at state level. Your board of nursing may cap total attempts, may require a remediation or refresher program before you sit again, or may attach a deadline to your original application. The board's answer is the one that matters and it varies by state.
