What is the difference between proofreading and copy editing?
Proofreading is the final surface pass: grammar, punctuation, spelling and consistency on a draft whose argument is already settled. Copy editing also works on sentence structure, register, repetition and transitions. If your feedback from faculty is about clarity rather than typos, you want the copy edit.
