Three things move an editing quote, and you control two of them
The level of work comes first. A final error check and a full clarity edit are genuinely different jobs taking different amounts of time. We tell you which level your document needs rather than quoting the heaviest one by default, and sometimes that means quoting you less.
Turnaround is the biggest lever you control. Same-day and 24-hour work displaces other scheduled work and is priced accordingly. A week's notice costs meaningfully less than 48 hours, and sending the document earlier is the cheapest saving available to anyone.
The state of the draft is the third. A draft needing heavy rewriting takes several times as long per page as a clean one. Running a spellchecker and fixing what you already know is wrong before sending it genuinely reduces the quote.

Prices are in US dollars. Editing is quoted per word because a page is not a fixed quantity of text, which makes per-page quotes impossible to compare. Turnaround is the second axis on every editing service: a week's notice costs meaningfully less than 24 hours.

Frequently Asked Questions
Ours starts at $0.04 per word for editing and $0.05 for dissertation work. Across the US market rates run roughly from two to eight cents per word depending on the level of work and the turnaround. A quote on your actual document is the only figure that means anything.
Because a page is not a fixed amount of text. Font size, spacing and margins change how much a page holds, so per-page quotes from different providers can describe very different amounts of work. Per word is unambiguous.
Yes. Once we have seen the document and quoted, that is the price. If we have misjudged the work, that is our problem rather than yours. The exception is if you send a substantially different document afterwards.
No, and there is no obligation. Send the document and you get a figure and a statement of what level of work it needs. Most people take a sample edit first so they can see what they would be buying.
Everyone we work with is a student, so a student discount would just be the price. What we do instead is quote the level of work your document actually needs rather than the heaviest one, and tell you when you need less than you asked for.

Details are agreed when you accept the quote. Nothing is charged before you have seen the figure and agreed to it, and nothing is charged for a quote or a sample edit.
Payment is taken through Stripe, on a secure invoice page. You can pay by credit or debit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, JCB or UnionPay), Apple Pay, Google Pay, Link, PayPal, Alipay or WeChat Pay. Your card details go to Stripe and never reach us.
It depends on how you pay. Cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Link: 3.15% + €0.25. PayPal: 0.2% + €0.10, plus PayPal's own fee. Alipay and WeChat Pay: 2.9% + €0.25. A further 2% applies where currency conversion is required. These are Stripe's published rates.
No. Payment runs through Stripe and card details never reach our systems. Getting a quote involves no card details at all, and nothing is booked until you have the figure and say yes to it.
US dollars. Every price on this site and every quote we issue is in USD, and the figure is fixed once it is confirmed in writing. If your card was issued outside the United States, your own bank sets the conversion rate and may add a fee on top.
On large orders such as a full thesis, a staged payment schedule can be agreed in writing when you accept the quote. Ask for it at that point rather than after work has started, because the schedule forms part of what you are agreeing to.
From the point we have both your payment and every file we need, not from when you first got in touch. If a rubric or a chapter arrives two days late, the clock starts two days later. Sending everything at once is the best thing you can do for a tight deadline.
Approved refunds go back to the original payment method within 5 to 10 business days. How quickly it then appears on your statement is up to your bank rather than us. We confirm the amount with you before processing it.
Cancel before an editor has started and you get the full amount back. Cancel after they have started and we refund the part of the fee covering work not yet done, minus a $20 administration charge. If we turn down an order on integrity grounds, anything not delivered is refunded in full.
