What counts as an original contribution?
Something that is known at the end that was not known before, which you can state plainly. A new finding, a method applied where it has not been, a theory tested in a population that might behave differently, or a synthesis that resolves a contradiction. It does not have to be large. It has to be defensible and clearly stated.
