What is the difference between the OSI and TCP/IP models?

OSI is a seven-layer conceptual model used for teaching and for locating functionality. TCP/IP is the four or five layer model that describes what actually runs. Exams use both, and questions usually turn on which layer a given function belongs to rather than on the model itself.
