How is a systematic review different?

A systematic review follows a pre-specified, documented protocol for searching, screening and extracting, usually reported against a standard such as PRISMA. It is a research method in its own right. A narrative review for a dissertation chapter has different expectations, and mixing the two labels loosely causes real problems.
