How long should an academic paragraph be?
Long enough to make a claim, support it and explain it, which in practice is usually four to eight sentences. Length is a symptom rather than a rule. A two-sentence paragraph has usually not developed its point, and a fifteen-sentence one is usually two paragraphs.
