How do I find the gap?
Usually by mapping the field properly first. Gaps show up as contradictions nobody has resolved, populations nobody has studied where there is reason to think the mechanism differs, or methods that have never been applied to a question. If you are searching for a gap before synthesizing, you are looking too early.
